Mel’s BookstoreBook bag

Your info, in plain English

Mel’s Bookstore is Melissa’s little shop for friends. She only uses your info for your order and never sells or shares it.

What we collect

If you use “Tell me when it’s back” or “Looking for a book?”, we keep the name, contact and book you type there too. If you leave a note about a book you borrowed, or suggest a name for the shop cat, we keep the note or name and your first name.

To stop spam, the site briefly keeps a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address. It can’t be turned back into the address and is deleted within a day.

Why

To set your books aside, email your order and how to pay, set up the pickup, remind you before a borrowed book is due, and thank you when it comes back. If you leave a note about a book, Melissa may show it on that book’s page with your first name only, after she reads it.

New-book emails

Only if you ticked the box. Melissa may send them with Kit (kit.com), an email service, so she would add your name and email there. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link, or just ask her to stop.

Never sold or shared

Your info is never sold, rented or shared with anyone else. No ads, no analytics, no tracking.

Where it’s stored

Orders are stored with Supabase (the database) and the site runs on Vercel. Order emails are sent from Melissa’s Gmail. Book covers are stored on this site, so your browser doesn’t load anything from other companies. Payments happen in Venmo or Zelle, not on this site.

The shop cat’s book suggestions are made with Anthropic’s Claude: only what you type in the box is sent (no name, email or other details), and it isn’t stored on this site.

How long we keep it

Delete your info

Any time: email mtravagl@gmail.com and Melissa will delete it (she has a button for it).
